Dive Instructor

Are you tired of being just another number on the roster?

Rum Runner Cape Tribulation is a small owner / operated business which has been established for over 10 years.

We are currently seeking a Dive Instructor for our unique day trip.

If you are a team player who excels when working as part of a dynamic and fun environment, then we want to meet you!

You appreciate the value of living in a remote, world heritage environment (approx 2 hours north of Cairns).
You enjoy being a respected member of the team, and you understand the responsibility that comes with hosting guests who are on their "trip of a lifetime."

You have experience with resort dive programmes, and you enjoy taking certified divers or snorkellers if required.

You are confident enough to provide valuable feedback to fellow dive professionals, and you are comfortable when taking instructions.

You will hold current instructor qualifications, current oxygen provider and senior first aid certificates, and current dive medical.

If it is your goal to make the most of every day in life, and you appreciate the value of having a good laugh, then you should send your application in writing to:

THAILAND : Train to be a PADI Dive Instructor

Career Change? Work your way through your Gap Year?
The three month PADI Dive Instructor programme is ideal for those seeking a career change, looking to work in a year off as a Dive Instructor (we have a dive instructor work placement service) or just for those who wish to develop their diving to the ultimate level.
On Arrival: Your car will collect you from Bangkok International airport, and take you to the coast. After your Welcome briefing and paperwork, we then settle you into your apartment. This will be your home for the next three months (see kit page for room view).
The next day we start on your training and the beginning of your whole new way of life. We also measure you up for your free dive equipment (see kit page), plus collect the dive books that you will need to study. But most important, is to get you in the warm water!
You can start this program with either PADI Open Water or PADI Advanced Open Water Qualifications (other qualification levels available - if you are not qualified see our Red Sea or Gozo programmes for a low cost entry into diving.)
Not only will you benefit from learning to be an PADI Open Water Instructor, but your course based in Thailand provides the perfect location to explore this stunning country. Then there is more...

National Geographic Qualification

As part of Greenforce's Environmental commitment, you will also be certified into the National Geographic programme. This additional training enables you to have a greater understanding of the marine environment and how to operate as an instructor in balance with the coral and fish species.
The National Geographic Certification shows a commitment to the sustainability of the environment in which you will work.

Also Over £1000 OF new dive equipment - YOURS to keep!
A major bonus of the Greenforce Dive Instructor programme, is that we give you all the kit you need. You train with it and then keep it at the end, so you are familiar with your kit and don't need to invest in new equipment at the beginning of your career.
The kit includes Scuba Pro regs, new wetsuit, mask, fins, compass, BCD and dive knife.
Plus you also receive the award winning Suunto Gekko dive computer to log all your dives with!!!
View the kit you get with your Instructor package on the Equipment page.

AccomMOdation and Job Placement Service
Included in the Greenforce Dive Instructor programme is your two bed apartment for the three months. Securely based close to the dive school, and all the local facilities, it is set back, typically with a balcony to ensure you have a safe place to stay. You are also in a great position to head off at weekend to explore all that Thailand has to offer.
We also give you access to the job placement service. We can help you source Dive Instructor placements in Thailand.
Greenforce also has paid instructor positions on our Fiji and Bahamas marine projects available to you once you qualify. There is typically at least one job available to each qualifying class. Alternatively check out our Australia Visa program for a guaranteed three month job on Australia's Gold Coast! An ideal start to use your new qualification.

FIJI - South pacific ADVENTURE

http://www.greenforce.org/destinations/fiji/

VITAL MARINE CONSERVATION on this south pacific island
"Come and join our volunteer marine survey groups living on our stunning South Pacific island. Learn to become a PADI Advanced diver and undertake important UNESCO marine surveys."
- James, Expedition Leader - Fiji and Beth, Assistant Scientist, welcome you to Fiji!
On Arrival: We meet you at Nandi - Fiji's international airport. We then head to the capital, Suva. We spend 3-4 days here.
As no diving or marine experience is required - we fully train you. We undertake your marine and science lectures in Suva so that experienced divers will be able to start on surveys and exploring straight away.
Working in partnership with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), Greenforce Fiji is surveying the reefs surrounding this remote South Pacific island. Greenforce and WCS intend to create a UNESCO Seascape multi use reserve.

LEARN: PADI OPEN WATER, ADVANCED OPEN WATER and EFR
For experienced divers Nsonsoni Reef is one of Fiji's premier dive locations. The large number of pelagic's - dolphins, sharks, whales etc makes it a great place to dive.
For beginners our UK Dive Staff will train you within the reef to first complete PADI Open Water.
Having successfully completed this first step, you then do your night dive and deep dive etc, for your PADI Advanced.
We then go a stage further by teaching you Emergency First Response. Thus the GREENFORCE - FIJI ADVENTURE is your perfect Dive Location.

where will I live, what will I do?
We are working on a remote outer island far from any world you would know. On arrival on the island, you undertake the Fijian Welcome ceremony or "savu savu" with the local "Ratu" or Chief. We work very closely with the Fijian village who we share our island with.
Living in traditional grass 'bures' on the beach around 20 mins by boat from the village. Our bures are under palm and lemon trees, a stunning location. Fresh water is provided from the ever running stream behind the camp while volunteers take turns in cooking the fijian way!
PADI Open Water dive training will take place in the first week for beginner divers, followed by science training in week two. After dive and science training have been completed volunteers carry out survey dives twice a day from Monday to Friday. Saturday is recreational dive day where you might do a deep dive, or a night dive, which all works towards your PADI Advanced Open Water qualification which volunteers achieve by the end of the expedition.

Underwater marine survey involves charting the coral with the use of GPS. Identifying fish and marine movements, where are the breeding grounds? Where do they feed? How will seasons affect the marine life? With a complete understanding of this underwater world we can then work with the the Fijian National Trust and WCS on creating an effective United Nations Seascape plan.
On Sundays volunteers go to the village to attend church, have lunch with local families and even brave the odd rugby match!
All diving takes place in un commercial, un chartered waters, meaning volunteers work within undisturbed marine habitats creating some of the best dive opportunities in the world. While your work for WCS and UNESCO will ensure the future for this beautiful and untouched South Pacific location.

you will be part of FIJIAN VIllage life
As it is only the village and Greenforce living on the island we are very involved in their daily life which has not significantly changed for hundreds of years. Run by the Ratu (Chief) the Fijian village is a self supporting community, who we work very closely with. Most volunteers will pair up with a Fijian family for their time on the island. This creates a greater understanding and also some incredible friendships.
Either playing rugby, celebrating birthday or involvement in ceremony you will soon live at Fijian pace of life where many of your previous worry's or cares become less important!

Can I stay longer than 3 months?
Traineeship
At the end of each 10 week phase the staff on camp will choose one volunteer to stay on as a 'trainee', at no extra cost, for the following phase. The traineeship allows enthusiastic and hard working volunteers the opportunity to learn more about marine science, diving and leadership on camp.

Caribbean ADVENTURE

Dear All,

This looks good fun......!

VITAL MARINE CONSERVATION
You will join other volunteers and train to operate as a Marine Protection Team, to protect Andros Island, home of the third largest barrier reef in the world, from unplanned tourism.
Never dived? No problem! Come and live on our Caribbean island and become a PADI Advanced Open Water diver. Experienced divers are also well catered for.
Greenforce is working with the Bahamas National Trust to create marine parks and 'no take zones'. Andros is the largest, but least developed of the Bahamian islands and their National Trust is keen to see measures being taken to ensure future generations will care for the reef and it's long term survival.

Where will we stay, what will we do?
On Arrival: Having flown into Nassau and taken the twice daily "hopper" flight to Andros Town, Glen, our Expedition Leader, will meet you and take you to our beach camp.
Set within the third largest barrier reef in the world we have an ideal location to learn to dive in if a beginner, while the reef offers more experienced divers all they could hope for.
From your stunning beach camp location you will complete your PADI Open Water dive training in the first week (beginner divers) before starting your science training in week two. When the science training is completed volunteers begin to carry out two survey dives a day, Monday to Friday.
Saturday is your fun dive day, where a deep dive, night dive or drift dive is followed by a beach barbeque.

Underwater marine surveys involve charting the coral with the use of GPS, identifying fish and marine movements, and locating where the breeding and feeding grounds are. We are also looking to see how different seasons could affect the marine life. With a complete understanding of this underwater world we can then work with the Bahamas National Trust on creating an effective management plan.
All diving takes place in uncommercial, unchartered waters, meaning volunteers work within undisturbed marine habitats creating some of the best dive opportunities in the world.

Community leadership
One afternoon per week volunteers visit one of the local schools. This marine conservation awareness project aims to instill an understanding of the importance of their marine environment in the minds of the young Bahamian generation.
Sessions run by volunteers are fun and interactive, often involving games and plays, also allowing volunteers to gain a deeper understanding of the community on the island.
