Job DescriptionAssists in the management of the Shark Bay Marine Park, Hamelin Pool Marine Nature Reserve, and other lands and waters managed by the Department of Environment and Conservation in the Shark Bay District
Selection CriteriaESSENTIAL1. Demonstrated ability to participate in works programs associated with biodiversity conservation and Parks and Visitor Services outcomes.2. Knowledge of marine, coastal and island management issues.3. Ability to participate in the development and delivery of interpretation and education programs.4. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and experience in liaising with the public, stakeholders and external agencies.5. Awareness of equal employment opportunity and diversity principles.6. Minimum certification of Coxswains Certificate of Competency (Unrestricted).7. National Coaching and Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) approved Open Water SCUBA diving qualification with the ability to attain Departmental Dive Supervisor status (including passing an internal diving fitness assessment) and pass a current medical certificate to AS 2299 (scientific diving).8. Current “C” class motor vehicle drivers licence (previously “A”).9. Demonstrated practical skills (e.g. installation of signs, construction of research and monitoring equipment, use of hand and power tools) and the ability to prepare and implement maintenance programs for reserve infrastructure and equipment (e.g. small vessels, vehicles, outboard motors, SCUBA equipment, signage, marker buoys).10. Appointment/Progression to Grade 2 is dependent on having/obtaining the Certificate of National Park Management or an equivalent qualification.DESIRABLE1. Tertiary qualifications in natural resource management.2. Current Master Class 5 Skipper Grade 3 Certificate of Competency or the capacity to obtain within six months of employment.3. National Coaching and Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) approved diving qualification (Rescue diver or better), current medical certificate to AS 2299 (scientific diving), current First Aid Certificate and qualification to administer oxygen resuscitation or therapy.4. Knowledge of the CALM Act and Regulations, and Wildlife Conservation Act and Regulations.5. Proficiency in computer operations, including word processing, spreadsheets and database software.6. Demonstrated competence in the coordination and supervision of volunteers.7. Ability to implement changes to minimize and mitigate visitor risk management.8. Demonstrated experience in patrol and enforcement procedures.9. Knowledge of tourism, fishing and recreation industries.10. Experience in working with and knowledge of marine animals.11. Knowledge of and ability to participate in the Incident Control System in relation to wildfires, oil spills and marine mammal strandings.

We have a position available for full time Padi Dive Instructor, must be able to teach in English and Spanish; Digital U/W photo and equipment repair skills are a plus but not a requirement. Very professional work environment oriented to the upscale clientele. Commissions for certification cards signed.
We also offer 2 months Internship divemaster Training.
